"There is nothing more pleasant than cruising on a boat with the whole family."

Days 45 and 46, August 1 and 2 -- Lay days in Parker's Cove, Bedford Basin, Halifax -- Zero NM

Our hosts, Greg and Wanda,  have been overwhelmingly hospitable to us; embarrasingly hospitable. Their magnificent home is located on the waters edge, in Parker's Cove. We docked ILENE across their dock from their "Summerwind",
walked up the ramp to their boat house, perhaps ten feet above high water level, which is a fully equipped living room and den with kitchen, bar, head, and a garage door that rolls up permitting access to the view and the prevailing south westerlies.
Continuing up we come to the house,
converted from a small old one to a large modern home with a deck 90 percent of the way around it, a deck large enough for a large dining room table seen here with Wanda and Lene beautifying the scene.
The house has great wifi and is very tastefully decorated. Greg did the building and Wanda the decorating. View from great room.

For dinner they broiled delicious salmon steaks and fillets of beef, plus salad, broccoli, baked potatoes and key lime pie washed down with good Nova Scotia Tidal Bay wine, a blend of four grapes grown in Nova Scotia, and desert ice wine. We showered in a shower built for two with an overhead waterfall shower plus jets from the side, equipped with towel warming racks, a jacuzzi and in essence everything a person could possibly want. Our guest bedroom, one of two, had hotel style complimentary bath robes.
After dinner we sat around the hot fire at the entrance to the boat house and talked while our cats, illuminated with their blue and green glowing lights, roamed the place until Lene put them into the boat for the night while we slept in luxury ashore. Their was operated for us like a five star hotel with concierge service by our friends!
They took us to two wineries in the Annapolis Valley, with beautiful views of the Bay of Fundy: Luckett and Grand Pre. Another day Greg drove us to the single most popular tourist attraction in Nova Scotia, Peggy's Cove, a tiny slit between the rocks with room for three fishing boats but no room for even a single sailboat. It is behind a massive headland of rock with a lighthouse on it.

Cove entry almost hidden seen from base of light.

We walked around the north end of the Bedford Basin to the Bedford YC with Wanda. They took us shopping for groceries, propane, etc and we did laundry. I had planned to see more of the central city of Halifax but this was unique and way better.
We were treated like royalty by folks who had never met until a month ago -- friends of sailing friends. We are hoping for a visit by Greg and Wanda to New York this fall. Ilene expressed a reluctance to return to the sea but our weather window was open. Thanks, Greg and Wanda!
