We ended up staying in the Chowder House from about 11 am to
8 pm. And in our three days in Eastport, we had three dinners, two lunches and one breakfast at Bob’s restaurants. And at night, when the winds usually calm down, a
big wind came up and ILENE was
dancing and shaking on her mooring while some of us worried that she might break off it. Not a good night’s sleep.

August 9 -- Rain Delay in Eastport
We had planed to leave at noon for Cross Island, but an all day rain and heavy at times caused us to wait here a day. We had breakfast at Bob's other restaurant, the WaCo diner, named after its two founders. it is reputed to be the oldest diner in Maine, founded in 1922. I got a drawer knob at S. L. Wadsworth & Son's Hardware, which claims to be the nation's oldest chandlery. This was to replace the one that broke from the lid of our main galley pot. Lene wanted to buy a new pot but the pot is a good one and was only $2.59 for the repair parts. I visited the post office to mail off postcards. Then back to Bob's Chowder House, where we spent the whole day, from 11 am to 8 pm: blogging, reading, watching videos, playing games, and, oh yes, eating.
